Joe’s Island FAQ

Quick answers for Banoon, support points, memberships, and how the Island works.

1 · What is Joe’s Island

Joe’s Island is an interactive world built around the music of Joe Hijuelos. You explore rooms, unlock doors, earn rewards, and support the music in a living tropical universe that grows over time.

It is designed to reward real support and give you a fun place to return to, not just a static music page.

2 · How do membership tiers work

The island uses five main tiers. Each tier unlocks new rooms, perks, and recognition. Upgrades can award support points and Banoon bonuses controlled by Admin settings.

Tier 1 Listener, Tier 2 Moonlight, Tier 3 Pearl Spirit, Tier 4 Horizon Sunset, Tier 5 Signature Palm.

3 · What is Banoon

Banoon is the Island currency. You earn it through real activity and exploration across Joe’s Island.

Banoon represents earned support, not purchased advantage. Progress comes from engagement, consistency, and participation throughout the Island.

Banoon can later be converted into store credits for merch, releases, and special drops, based on rates set by Admin.

Banoon may be earned through logins, interactive rooms, games, tier bonuses, and future Island events.

Important: The Island’s metrics engine prevents buying your way to the top. Rankings and rewards are driven by engagement, not payment.

Engagement metrics drive ranking placement on the Hall of Waves board, ensuring fair and activity-based positioning.

4 · What are support points

Support points are not spendable like Banoon. They measure long term engagement and contribution across the island.

Support points feed the Journey tube, determine leaderboard rank, and track your island momentum over time.

5 · What is the Banoon Journey tube

The Journey tube shows how close you are to your daily support point goal. It fills as you earn points and resets each new day.

0 percent means no points today. 50 percent means halfway. 100 percent means you hit the daily cap.

6 · What is the Hall of Waves board

The Hall of Waves is the Island’s live leaderboard. It highlights the Top 40 listeners right now based on activity, engagement, and momentum — not just past history.

Rankings are driven by a Wave Score, which combines:

  • Lifetime Support Points (never reset or decay)
  • Banoon Coins earned through island activity
  • Streak bonuses for consistent engagement
  • Recent activity to keep the board fresh and fair

The Hall of Waves is designed to reflect current island energy. If you stay active, your Wave stays strong. If you take a break, your Wave gradually fades — allowing active listeners to rise.

This means:

  • Lifetime points are always kept
  • Inactive users do not hold top spots forever
  • Returning listeners can climb back quickly

Think of the Hall of Waves like a music chart — it shows who’s active and rising now, while still respecting long-term support.

7 · How do I convert Banoon into store credits

Use the converter console on your dashboard. It converts Banoon into credits using the Admin set rate.

Example: if 1 Banoon equals 0.10 credits then 10 Banoon becomes 1.00 credits.

8 · What games and interactive rooms exist

The island includes mini games and interactive rooms that reward exploration. Examples include Coconut Drop and Message in a Bottle.

Future ideas include tide pool treasure, fortune wheels, and seasonal island events.

9 · What is a daily support cap

The daily cap is the maximum support points you can earn per day. It keeps the system fair and prevents abuse.

After you hit the cap you can still explore, but new actions will not add more support points until the next day.

10 · What technology runs the island

Joe’s Island runs on a real, rules-based metrics engine designed to reward genuine engagement, not spending alone. Rankings and progression are driven by activity signals such as logins, participation, exploration, and interaction across the site.

The system is built to run on autopilot with safeguards that prevent artificial inflation, block repeated reward abuse, enforce daily caps, and preserve historical records for accuracy and auditing. This keeps the ranking fair and competitive over time.

On specific dates such as holidays or special announced island events, earning rates can be temporarily boosted so members may earn extra support points or Banoon during a limited window. These boosts are controlled centrally and logged.

The architecture was designed and implemented by Joe using a structured database model with multiple SQL tables, custom logic, and layered controls to ensure consistency, fairness, and long-term scalability.

Where Blues Meets the Tropics. Built as a living island that grows with every visit.

11 · Final Note from Joe

This island was built to reward real engagement, curiosity, and consistency — not shortcuts.

Everything here is designed with intention: the rooms, the tiers, the metrics, and the pacing. Nothing is random, and nothing is pay-to-win. The goal is to create a place that grows honestly over time, where support is earned and recognized in meaningful ways.

Joe’s Island will continue to evolve. New rooms will open, systems will refine, and features will expand — but the foundation stays the same. If you’re here, exploring and participating, you’re already part of the story.

Thanks for being here and helping shape what this becomes.

Have fun.
